Please Note: The UK is no longer accepting new applications for UK programmes while we restructure our operations. Please note that this does not affect any of our Ireland programmes which continue uninterrupted. Please contact Declan Millar at dmillar@hsinet.org for further information on options in the UK.

High school programmes

Our high school programmes are for students aged 13 to 17 who want to study in the United Kingdom or Ireland.

With HSI, you will study in a British or Irish high school, alongside British or Irish students. You can complete your high school diploma in the UK or Ireland, or you can return to your home country to finish your studies.

There are three things which any high school student needs when studying overseas.

  1. Tuition
  2. Accommodation
  3. Guardianship

Here at HSI we bring these three things together, so that you can be sure that you are studying in the best school for your needs, and that you have all the support and assistance necessary to ensure you are safe, happy and successful.

Tuition

Helping you choose the right school

HSI’s consultation process is designed so make it easy for you to choose the school which best meets your requirements and preferences.

When you complete our Pre-Application enquiry form we will present you with several school options which:

  • offer the subjects, sports or arts that you enjoy.
  • are in a location that you like.
  • are within your budget.

It’s also important to remember that not all schools are available to all students. Our Pre-Application allows us to present you only with schools who:

  • have availability.
  • are likely to accept your application based on your school grades and English level.

With HSI you will always have the choice of which school you attend.*

*With exception of the Standard Day School programme in Ireland and the Budget programme in the UK.

Accommodation

Your home away from home

We believe that finding you the right accommodation is just as important as finding you the right school.

There are two options available to you:

  1. Boarding
  2. Homestay

Both offer very different experiences and so you should think carefully about which one you would prefer.

Boarding

Boarding involves living in dormitory style or shared rooms in a boarding house on the school campus.

Living in a boarding house is very safe and can be a lot of fun, but you should remember that:

  • you will have very little privacy.
  • you will need to participate in a lot of sports and social activities.
  • you will have a very structured daily and weekly routine.

Boarding is not for everybody, but if you think that you would enjoy being a part of a boarding community then it can be a life-changing experience.

Homestay

Homestay accommodation with HSI involves living with a British or Irish host family close to your school.

HSI host families will always:

  • provide a private single room for you.
  • provide a quiet place for you to study.
  • give you access to all house facilities.
  • offer a warm and welcoming place to live.

Living with a host family is the best way to experience the local culture. We visit all of our host families in advance to ensure that they meet our high standards. Many of our students stay in contact with their host families for life.
