This month has flown by with a whirlwind of activities and memorable moments. I didn’t expect this year to be so wonderful! I'm spending time with new friends, balancing both fun and the challenges of studying.
Academic Challenges and Teamwork
As the weeks go by, my studies are becoming more challenging, and I sometimes struggle to understand the lessons. To tackle this, my friend and I have started studying together, helping each other with our stronger subjects. We had our first exams in early October, and I sat for Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Biology was particularly tough because of all the key terms I needed to remember, and the exam involved a lot of writing, which isn’t my strongest skill. Despite my struggles, I’m determined to study harder and improve my results.
Badminton Success and New Beginnings
At the end of September, I participated in a badminton match where I competed in singles, ladies' doubles, and mixed doubles. I was thrilled to win 2nd place in the ladies' doubles! However, I feel I could have performed better in the singles and mixed doubles, so I’m motivated to practice more and enhance my skills.
I don’t play badminton as frequently as I did in Japan, and the training methods here are quite different. I miss my teammates and coach back home, but I’m also enjoying the new environment and the opportunity to grow.
A Royal Experience: Visiting Buckingham Palace
On the 28th of September, I had the chance to visit Buckingham Palace on a boarding trip. The palace is filled with stunning artwork and grand rooms, and it was my first time visiting, so I was really excited. Each of us had our own tour guide, allowing us to explore at our own pace and fully take in the experience.
After the palace tour, we headed to a massive shopping centre in London. I was amazed at how big it was! We didn’t have enough time to explore all the shops, but it was still a fun experience, and I hope to visit again someday.
A Sweet Celebration: A Surprise Birthday Cake
One of my friends turned 18 this month, and we decided to surprise him with a homemade strawberry cake. Although the sponge was a little hard since it was our first time making a strawberry cake, the taste was delicious, especially the cream!
I can still vividly remember his reaction when we brought out the cake and started singing. I hope it was one of his best birthdays ever!
Looking Forward to Half-Term Break
Next week, we have our half-term break, and I’m really excited to spend it with my host family again. I can’t wait to share more about my experiences soon!
Thank you for reading!
