Building Dreams, One Project at a Time: My January Update

Crafting the CanSat and Testing the Skies

The past few weeks have been packed with progress on my team's CanSat project. We've successfully completed our primary mission! After sourcing and soldering technical components and writing custom code, our systems, sensors, and antenna are up and running.

On the parachute side, I calculated the ideal area needed for a smooth descent. Translating that into a hemisphere, I designed panels to cut from kite fabric. Now, all that's left is sewing it together and running tests. Exciting times ahead as we fine-tune everything!

Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

As part of our outreach program, we recently hosted a workshop for first-year students. We organised an aeroplane competition, judging entries on both design and flight performance. The creativity on display was amazing, and some unexpected designs turned out to be surprisingly effective.

Christmas Exams: A Learning Experience

After Christmas, the focus shifted to exams. As a 5th-year student, this was my first experience sitting exams in a large hall with two tests per day. While some were challenging, most were manageable, and my results were as expected. With the exams behind me, I’m excited to focus on projects and other enjoyable activities.

Racing into a New Season

Although the cross-country season wrapped up over the holidays, I’ve transitioned to indoor track events. I have a one-mile race this Friday and another in two weeks.

Before cross-country ended, I participated in the North Leinster competition with my schoolmates. It was a refreshing break from regular school days, and the experience was both fun and rewarding.

Exploring History at Dublin Castle

A recent highlight was a trip to Dublin Castle. The visit was enlightening, offering insights into the British role in Ireland's history. The throne room and great hall were particularly striking, and the gardens are a must-see.

Cherished Moments with My Irish Host Family

Amidst all the busyness, I treasure time spent with my host family. Emily, my host sister, and I enjoy drawing together, and we often bond over family cooking and baking sessions. Although keeping up with my younger host siblings can be tiring, their energy always brings joy.
