Hello! Welcome to Asako’s 7th blog!
Half-Term Adventures in Germany
Finally, I had the chance to visit my friend in Germany during the half-term break, and it was an amazing experience! We had so much fun together, from sightseeing and shopping to meeting her friends and participating in various sports activities. One of the highlights was spending a day at a trampoline park, and on another day, we went climbing, which was a blast.
Her family was incredibly welcoming, and I really enjoyed the food, even though it was quite different from what I’m used to. We had various types of bread for breakfast and dinner, and her mum always prepared a warm lunch, which was delicious.
Exploring Cologne and Reuniting with Friends
One of my best memories from the trip was our visit to Cologne. We explored the city and even met a former student from BCS, which was such a fun reunion. The first place we visited was Cologne Cathedral, which was much larger and more intricate than I had imagined. The decorations and architecture were stunning, and my friend shared some fascinating historical details with me.
After touring the cathedral, we decided to have lunch together. Since we had already indulged in many German dishes, we opted for Thai food, which was a nice change—I was definitely craving some Asian flavours by then!
I also did some souvenir shopping but hadn’t fully decided what to get for everyone back home. I only managed to buy something for my sister, who had given me specific requests. Overall, visiting Cologne was a fantastic experience, and I hope to return someday to explore more of the city with friends.
A Sweet Visit to the Lindt Chocolate Factory
Another highlight of the trip was visiting the Lindt chocolate factory in my friend’s hometown. The factory was enormous, and they offered a wide variety of chocolates at significant discounts. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see how the chocolates were made, but I stocked up on different kinds of chocolate. The most impressive find was the 100% dark chocolate bars—something I had never seen before!
This trip to Germany was definitely one of the best half-term breaks I’ve had. Since I had only visited Germany once before on a day trip, everything felt new and exciting, and I had the chance to experience so much.
My friend is leaving BCS in April, so I’m already looking forward to visiting her again in Germany someday!
Celebrating Friendships and Birthdays
This month, we also celebrated the 17th birthday of one of my friends from Macau. It’s hard to believe she was still 16 before because she’s incredibly mature. She always offers me great advice and helps me with our A-Level subjects—Maths, Chemistry, and Biology—which we’re both studying. Our bond has grown stronger over the past year.
She’s smart, kind, and has a cute, sometimes silly side. I really admire and respect her. For her birthday, we enjoyed a Chinese hotpot and later went to a karaoke bar. Although I didn’t understand most of the songs since they were in Chinese, it was still a lot of fun to spend time with my friends.
Reflecting on Time and Cherishing Moments
This month flew by, and I can’t believe I only have a few months left until Easter break. Time has been passing so quickly for me lately, so I’m trying to appreciate every single moment I spend at BCS.
