Hard to believe it’s been nearly three months since I arrived in Ireland for my Study Abroad program. The time is flying by! At this point, it no longer feels like I’m in a foreign country. I’ve made friends, and school—though entirely in English—has become manageable and even enjoyable.
Unfortunately, I was unwell for a week and couldn’t do much during that time. Now that I’m better, I’m already planning my next trip with a friend.
Celebrating Halloween in Ireland
Of course, I celebrated Halloween with my host family. We baked Halloween-inspired cookies and decorated the house with themed lights and other spooky touches. I even went trick-or-treating with the kids. Along with having a lot of fun, I also collected a substantial amount of candy!
A friend invited me to visit Farmaphobia, a Halloween attraction. At first, I was hesitant since I’m easily scared, and a haunted park wasn’t something I’d ever considered. However, I decided to go, and despite the frights, it was an unforgettable experience.
Study Abroad School Life in Ireland: A Pleasant Surprise
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been settling in well at school. In fact, I was honoured to be named Student of the Month by High Schools International in November—something I never expected so early in my stay.
Of course, school includes tests, but as long as you stay on top of your work, they’re quite manageable.
Our CanSat competition project has entered the real development phase. While we’ve faced some challenges with team communication, we’re tackling them professionally. We’ve made great progress, including choosing our logo and restructuring the team for better collaboration.
Exploring Dublin and Beyond
I’m absolutely loving Dublin. The city is lively but never feels overly crowded or rushed. After my last blog post, I met up with a German friend who was on holiday in Dublin. We had a fantastic time exploring the city together.
More recently, I visited the National Museum of Ireland for Archaeology. I was amazed by the gold exhibits and pleasantly surprised to find that admission was free. I’m already planning a second visit!
Whenever I’m in Dublin, I make sure to stop by my favourite shop, The Rolling Donut, located near O’Connell Bridge. Their coffee and donuts are a treat I highly recommend.
Festive Spirit: Christmas Is Coming
The holiday season is in full swing! All around Dublin and Ratoath, Christmas decorations are going up, adding a festive feel to the atmosphere. I’m planning to bake some Christmas cookies soon to join in the celebrations.
Ireland continues to surprise and delight me, and I’m excited to see what the next month brings!
